Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation — Rifujin na Magonote

Status: in progress · volume 21

A man who wasted his first life dies and is reborn as Rudeus Greyrat, in a world of magic, keeping his memories and resolving to do it properly this time. I'm on volume 21. What keeps me reading, besides the long arc of a life, is how methodical the magic is: ranks from Beginner up to God, incantations a practised caster learns to skip, and mana that grows only if you train it young.

magic · liveA magic circle in the spirit of the series. Pick an element and a rank, hold anywhere to gather mana, release to cast. Higher ranks draw more rings, cost more mana and hit harder; silent casting skips the incantation, the way Rudeus does.open ↗

Count Zero — William Gibson

Status: rereading · the Sprawl trilogy, book two

The trilogy reread goes on. Seven years after Neuromancer, three threads run towards each other: a corporate mercenary on an extraction gone wrong, a young hacker who calls himself Count Zero, and an art dealer hired to find whoever makes a set of strange boxes. Meanwhile, cyberspace has started speaking in the voices of the loa.

Real World OCaml — Anil Madhavpeddy & Yaron Minsky

Status: in progress · second edition

I’m using this as a study companion while learning OCaml. It is a substantial, example-rich guide to functional programming, systems code, and the parts of OCaml that only become clear by writing them down. The book is available online, and the working notes are in the OCaml learning log.

Neuromancer — William Gibson

Finished: 17 October 2026 · reread

The first book of the Sprawl trilogy, read again. Case, Armitage, and Molly Millions remain an excellent route into questions about power, identity, and machines, and its atmosphere is still part of the signal this site is tuned to. On to Count Zero.
